Frequently asked questions about IT support

Do you work remotely, or do I need to wait for a visit?
Most requests (updates, configuration, software help, some network issues) I resolve remotely — usually the same day. An on-site visit is mainly needed for physical hardware repair or setting up new network infrastructure.
What if my computer still runs Windows 10?
Microsoft ended free support for Windows 10 on 14 October 2025. A personal machine can still be covered by the free consumer ESU programme — after Microsoft's extension, security updates run until 12 October 2027. That programme does not cover company machines joined to a domain or managed through MDM; for those, only paid ESU is available, up to October 2028, with the rate doubling each year. I'll check whether your hardware qualifies for a free upgrade to Windows 11 and work out which is cheaper: migrating or continuing to patch.
How quickly do you respond to an outage?
It depends on the plan: Bronze has a response time of up to 24h on business days, Silver up to 8h, and Gold — priority, up to 4h, with on-site visits included within Dobre Miasto and the surrounding area. Outside a subscription, I try to respond as quickly as possible, but without a time guarantee.
Do you handle the whole website — hosting, domain?
Yes. I can handle the entire scope: registering or transferring a domain, hosting, building the site, and its ongoing upkeep (updates, small changes, monitoring) — as one consistent point of contact instead of several vendors.
Do you also help individuals, or only businesses?
I focus mainly on businesses, but I also take on individual hardware repairs and configuration help for private clients — message or call and I'll let you know if I can help.

Register of key and important entities — the deadline has passed, what next

Poland's new cybersecurity rules work on self-identification: the company itself assesses whether it is a key or important entity and applies for entry in the register kept by the Ministry of Digital Affairs. The self-registration deadline passed on 3 October 2026. A company that meets the criteria but has not applied should do so without delay in the Wykaz KSC application — the sector authority may also designate it as a key or important entity and enter it in the register itself, and not registering does not release it from the obligations under the act. A late entry does not move the next deadlines: the substantive obligations, including an information security management system, must be in place by 3 April 2027, and key entities must complete their first audit by 3 April 2028. Once registered, any change of data must be reported within 14 days; companies that meet the criteria later have 6 months to apply. If you operate in manufacturing, transport, waste management, food, ICT services or healthcare and are not sure whether this applies to you, check it now — I can walk through the assessment with you.

NIS2 in Polish law — who it actually covers

The Act of 23 January 2026, signed on 19 February and published on 2 March, covers key and important entities in designated sectors that meet the medium-enterprise threshold: at least 50 employees, or turnover or balance-sheet total above EUR 10 million. Regardless of size, it also covers DNS providers, TLD name registries, qualified trust service providers and telecoms operators. Micro and small companies are usually not directly in scope — but as suppliers they receive these requirements contractually from larger clients, and have to be able to evidence them. Fines: up to EUR 10 million or 2% of turnover for key entities and EUR 7 million or 1.4% for important entities, with personal liability for the head of the entity of up to 300% of their salary. A significant incident is reported in three stages: early warning within 24 hours of detection, notification within 72 hours, final report within one month. The register deadline passed on 3 October 2026; substantive obligations must be in place by 3 April 2027.

KSeF e-invoicing · bill in the Sejm (print 3245): penalties from 1 Jan 2028

Invoices only through KSeF — penalties may wait, the obligation will not

Since 1 February 2026 every VAT payer in Poland receives invoices through the National e-Invoicing System, and issues them there from 1 February (the largest businesses) or 1 April 2026 (everyone else, sole traders included). A transition period runs until 31 December 2026: no penalties, cash-register invoices still allowed and a PLN 10,000 monthly allowance outside the system. On 16 September 2026 the Ministry of Finance announced that the deferral of penalties for errors in using KSeF will be extended to 31 December 2027, on 20 October 2026 the government adopted a bill amending the VAT act and sent it to the Sejm (print no. 3245); the first reading took place on 21 October and the bill went to the Public Finance Committee. Under the bill, penalties under Article 106ni would not be imposed throughout 2027; instead, the tax authorities would first send reminders of the obligation and, if the failures continue, carry out verification activities. It is still only a bill — until the act is passed and published, 1 January 2027 remains the binding date (a penalty of up to 100% of the VAT amount, minimum PLN 1,000). The deferral does not change the obligation itself: from 1 January 2027 KSeF will cover all businesses, and the tax authorities may act on invoices issued outside the system. Sorting out KSeF permissions and the integration with your invoicing software is therefore worth doing this year.

AI Act and the Polish AI systems act · from 11 Aug 2026

Using AI at work? There are concrete obligations now

The duty to ensure AI literacy among the people operating these tools (Article 4 of the AI Act) has applied since 2 February 2025. From 2 August 2026 transparency duties were added: you must disclose that the other party is talking to a chatbot, and label AI-generated content. Poland's act on artificial intelligence systems has applied since 11 August 2026, with the penalty provisions and the new supervisory authority applying from 28 October 2026. Requirements for high-risk systems, including recruitment and employee assessment, have been deferred to 2 December 2027. For a small company this comes down to two things: documented staff training and a simple AI usage policy.

Ransomware hits small companies — and backups win

According to the Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report 2026, ransomware was involved in 48% of the breaches analysed, and 96% of ransomware victims were small organisations. The most interesting figure is a different one: 69% of small and medium businesses refused to pay the ransom because they had working backups. In half of the cases, credentials had been stolen within 95 days before the attack — which is why backups, updates and two-factor authentication remain the cheapest and most effective line of defence.

Windows 10 — consumer ESU extended, but not for company machines

The free consumer ESU programme, originally set to end on 13 October 2026, was extended by Microsoft to 12 October 2027; in the European Economic Area, signing in with a Microsoft account is enough. The programme does not, however, cover machines joined to an Active Directory domain or to Microsoft Entra, or managed through MDM — that is, typical company hardware. For those, only commercial ESU remains, for up to three years to October 2028, at USD 61 per device in year one with the rate doubling each following year (about USD 427 per device over three years). At those figures, migration usually costs less than a third year of patching.
